Pacquiao – Cotto FirePower Media Tour Beverly Hills

September 14, 2009 Beverly Hills: Media sports writers flocked to Beverly Hills Hotel located on the famous Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California. With its 204 rooms and suites as well as 21 unique bungalows spread across the property, the action was centered inside the famed Rodeo Ballroom.

Since its creation in 1912, the Hotel has been a central meeting spot for the area’s film and television industry, as well as a popular hangout for celebrities. Today, historic venue played host to the best pound for pound Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and 3 time world WBS Champion Miguel Cotto Jr. who will face each other in the most awaited FirePower Welterweight Championship fight on November 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

There is a new special World Championwhip Diamond belt that that was unveiled to the media. It is manufactured with 18 karat gold and fusion, 861 diamonds, 6 rubies, 221 emeralds and 180 Swarovzky glass stones all mounted on a beautiful Italian Ferrari leather and displays the picture and the flag of the 2 boxing heroes that will battle on November 14 . On the other hand, this fight will earn Pacquiiao a whopping 1 Billion Pesos (US $20M).

Team Pacquiao shared the stage with Manny, namely, Michael Koncz, Atty. Jeng Gacal, and Freddie Roach – trainer. Miguel Cotto talked to the media. His father, Miguel Cotto, Sr. stayed on his side to his left as he explained how he will try his best to keep his title on the bout of November 14.

New Los Angeles Lakers acquisition Ron Artest dropped by after Lakers’ training and was seen being interviewed by sportswriter and Team Pacquiao ringside Physician – Dr. Allan Recto . When Ron Artest posed for the crowd of media photographers and videographers, Pacquiao stood up on his chair to be equal to the 7 foot tall Lakers to the delight of the media for the photo

Manny will fly back to the Philippines on September 15 where he will train in Baguio City. He also is making plans for a Congressional Campaign in his wife’s Congressional District in Sarangani, Southern Philippines in May 2010. However, boxing promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank Boxing will visit him on September 29 in Baguio to watch Pacman train. The latter part of his training will still be at Wildcard gym in Hollywood come October.

But before he flies back to the Philippines, Manny will throw the first pitch in a baseball game between the Padres vs. the Diamondbacks at PETCO Park , San Diego, California. Manny revealed that he used to play baseball when he was very young.

Also present at the Pacquiao – Cotto Firepower Presscon in Beverly Hills were ABS-CBN’s ‘Sports Unlimited’ host Dyan Castillejo as well as TV host Janelle So of KTLA TV 18.

Following the chatter on the newswire, Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant in New York last week stated Manny Pacquiao will beat Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico when they clash in November.“That’s not even a question,” said Bryant, “No doubt, Manny Pacquiao all the way.”

Bob Arum – Top Rank Boxing Promoter announced that Cotto will stay at MGM. However, Pacquiao will not stay at MGM ….. as he will be staying at Mandalay Bay, which Bob jokingly stated ‘will become an extension of the Republic of the Philippines for one week !’, referring to the enormous Filipino-American crowd that tend to encamp at the Resort Hotel and be close to Pacman Pacquiao during fight week.

This is an interesting bout, the hardest for Pacman – the WBO Welterweight title. November 14 – see the ultimate FirePower unleashed at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Predictions reveal that it will be a 50-50 bout with  Miguel Cotto being the heavier and stronger Boxer while Pacquiao being the faster. This will  not be a two-round fight, boxing enthusiast declared. Pacquiao stated that ‘No  one knows who will win – Only God knows.’  Everybody seem to have mixed forecast. Let us see who is the better Boxer when FirePower will be unleashed on November 14 at MGM Grand Hotel. Until then, it  is everybody’s guess.
