2009 Historic Filipinotown Festival, Tours and 5K Run/Walk in Los Angeles

You are all invited to Historic Filipinotown in Los Angeles, on Saturday, August 1, 2009 to join in the 7th Annual Celebration of the Founding of Historic Filipinotown and join in the festivities organized by the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council and the Filipino American Library. The celebration is a whole day festival of sports activities, song and dance presentations and an array of booths for food, merchandize and community information. There will be parking available. Major Events include: A) 5K Run/Walk, B) Filipino Street Festival and C) Guided Tours around Filipinotown.
A) 5K Run/Walk at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time
This 5K Run/Walk kicks off the 6th celebration of the founding of Historic Filipinotown.
Start-off point: 1925 W. Temple St., Los Angeles, CA.
Fees: $20 Adult, $15 15 yrs and under up to July 19, 2009. $25 Adult and $17 15 yrs & under July 20, 2009 up to Race Day.

B) Historic Filipinotown Festival
All Day Entertainment, Food and Game Booths.
Entertainment program will feature Ms. Nora Aunor, Bernardo Bernardo, Malou Toler, Burlington School Children, Silverlake Adult Day Health Care, Fashion Show by Filmart, Albert Garcia Band, Jazz Band, Jazz Phil-USA, Claire Rodriguez, Salsa Dancers, La Palabra, V.I.T.A.L. Emcee, Jay’sen and the Purple Heart Band, The Steve G. Band, Dirty Bandits, China Rosa, Picard Maneuver, Natascha Corrigan, and more!
C) Guided Tours
What is Filipino about Historic Filipinotown? The Filipino American Library (FAL), in partnership with the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council, a 501(c)3 Nonprofit Corporation, and the Office of Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, answers the question in its Community Tours of Historic Filipinotown during the 2009 Historic Filipinotown Festival and 5k Run/Walk.
Four (4) One and a half hour tours will begin at 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, and 5:00pm.

While the tours are free, a donation of $5 per person is requested to help defray the cost.
The FAL Community Tours of Historic Filipinotown, narrated by a knowledgeable tour guide, will cover significant sites, events, and individuals in and around Historic Filipinotown, providing a rich historical overview of Filipinos in Los Angeles.
