Catholics Vote Pro-Life With John McCain

This Is My Body

It is the Roman Catholic Church’s mission to defend human life and this applies over the entire course of life, from conception to natural death. Pope Paul VI with his encyclical “Humanae Vitae” encharged the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith with the Declaration on Procured Abortion to wit:

“The first right of the human person is his life . . . It does not belong to society, nor does it belong to public authority in any form to recognize this right for some and not for others; all discrimination is evil. . . Any discrimination based on the various stages of life is no more justified any other discrimination. . . . In reality, respect for human life is called for from the time that the process of generation begins. From the time that the ovum is fertilized, a life is begun which is neither that of the father nor of the mother; it is rather the life of a new human being with his own growth.” — Declaration on Procured Abortion, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (1974), paragraphs 11-12.

In addition, Pope John Paul II’s “Evengelium Vitae” to current Pope Benedict XVI’s “Deus Caritas Est” all unequivocally affirm that the gravest injustice of all is ABORTION.

Politics and the Culture of Death

It is unconscionable that some Catholic politicians who are pro-abortion and some Catholics who support proponents of abortion rationalize that the “intrinsic evils” wrought by wars, tortures and the like, trump the “intrinsic evil” of abortion. No rationalization trumps the fundamental evils of abortion which are crimes against society and against God. To support any proponent or manner of abortion causes a Catholic to leave the “state of grace” which is necessary to receive Holy Communion. To propose that Catholics can morally support a pro-abortion candidate because of the evils done by another is reprehensible because it is inherently misleading and causes Catholics to go against the moral teachings of the Catholic Church.

As of 2005, 45 million abortions have been performed “legally” in the United States alone. To date, it is estimated that 50 million abortions have been committed since Roe vs. Wade.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta said in her speech after she received her Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, “The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion, which is war against the child. The mother doesn’t learn to love, but kills to solve her own problems. Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.

McCain vs. Obama on Abortion in 50 SECONDS

Sen. Obama believes it’s above his paygrade to determine when life begins? Religion and science are the same when it comes to the point of when life begins.

LIFE BEGINS AT THE MOMENT OF CONCEPTION

“There is no more pivotal moment in the subsequent growth and development of a human being than when 23 chromosomes of the father join with 23 chromosomes of the mother to form a unique, 46-chromosomed individual, with a gender, who had previously simply not existed.” — Jerome Lejeune (1926-1994), developmental geneticist.

The fact is that Senator Obama, while with the Illinois legislature, had not only voted against a ban on partial-birth abortion, a procedure the late Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan of New York once called “too close to infanticide,” but opposed a bill to protect the life of an infant who survived a late-term abortion called the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act” in Illinois. “Then-state Senator Barack Obama voted against Born Alive 4 times in 3 years and was the sole senator to speak against it on the state senate floor in 2001 and 2002.” By pro-abortionist standards, the infant who has been born, now out of the womb is already a “person” with all the rights of an American citizen and Obama opposed giving medical care or any protection? By Obama’s terms then, there are no limits to the culture of death wrought by abortion.

Sen. Obama promised that if he becomes President of the U.S., “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act.” What is it? Here’s a short video

In summary, the Freedom of Choice Act would invalidate the national ban on partial birth abortions which had been upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. It would also invalidate the amendment on the ban of federal funding of abortions, invalidate parental notification of abortion laws in some states, invalidate conscience laws, among others. There is no end to this culture of death.

Michelle Malkin, a columnist who formerly worked for the Seattle Times, was born of Filipino immigrants. Michelle who writes a twice-weekly column syndicated all over the United States said, “For three decades, the pro-abortion lobby has succeeded in squelching doubts and dissent about the mass destruction of human lives — 40 million so far — in the name of choice. But the truth is seeping out. And according to an account in the pro-choice publication American Medical News, abortion clinic workers often wonder if the fetus feels pain…Haunting auditory hallucinations. Voices from the womb. This is the pro-abortion movement’s worst nightmare. Imagine the roar of 40 million tiny voices, all in unison…crying out: ‘I want to live. I do not want to die.’”

Catholic Church and Social Justice

There are some who claim that the Catholic Church and Her representatives have done nothing to prevent the causes of abortion. This is our response:

Catholic hospitals and other health-care facilities form the largest network of private, not-for-profit health care providers in the United States and around the world. Catholic Charities USA - one of a number of Catholic charitable groups - is currently the single largest provider of social services to all Americans, regardless of race, creed or national origin. This is true for the Roman Catholic Charities around the world.

The Catholic Church has been forefront in many social justice teachings and the establishment of institutions to help the poor, homeless, disenfranchised peoples in the world, putting the teachings of Jesus Christ into action. To deny such good works of the Church and faithful missions by fellow Catholics in order to promote the pro-abortion candidate serve only the interest of those who want to rationalize a morally wrong behavior.

If you are Catholic or claim to be Catholic, you need to act accordingly. Vote Pro-Life. Vote for John McCain.
