Pinoys Madonna Decena and Charlie Green in 2008 Britain’s Got Talent
2nd Season of BGT
Pinoys Madonna Decena and Charlie Green were given standing ovations by the audience and green-lighted for Round 2 by judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan in the 2nd Season of Britain’s Got Talent (BGT), the search for Britain’s most talented performer of 2008. They are now YouTube sensations garnering a combined total of 350,000 views.

Madonna Decena in live audition, singing for her two children in the Philippines
Madonna Decena is a 32-year-old single parent of two girls she left behind with their grandparents in Manila 18-months ago so she could earn money in the U.K. At her live audition at BGT, she brought the judges and audience to tears when she explained that she’s there so that she could make more money for her two children in Manila.
In this video, Madonna lives up to her namesake and belts out Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” to a standing ovation from the audience and thumbs up from the judges.
CHARLIE GREEN
Charlie Green with British Dad and Filipina Mom
Charlie Green is a 10-year-old schoolboy who’s been singing since he was 3 years old and wants to be professional singer when he’s older. His father is Roger, British, and his mom, Cecilia Surmargo, is a Filipina. Charlie said he’s always daydreamed that he was singing in front of a big audience with a massive band behind him on stage.
In this video, Charlie sings Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind.” Watch how Charlie impresses the audience to a standing ovation and get thumbs up from the judges.
BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT
BGT is open to anyone from anywhere … as long as they’ve got talent to pass through judges Simon Cowell (American Idol), Amanda Holden (Actress) and Piers Morgan (Journalist and recent winner of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice) to get to the semi-final round.
Once the semi-finals begin, BGT will be shown daily in the U.K. over one week from Monday, May 26 - Friday, May 30. Finals will be live on Saturday 31 May on ITV British television.
The big winner will receive a £100,000 check, along with the chance to perform for Prince Charles at the prestigious Royal Variety Show.
