WordPress Tutorial: How To Add Co-Author(s) To Your Posts

There will be occasions where two, three or more authors will collaborate on a single featured post. In those cases, it is appropriate to give credit to all who worked on the post. I have uploaded the features which will allow you to add the co-author name/s in your post.

In this tutorial, we’re going to go through the steps taken in the recent post collaboration of John Lacson and Albert Vargas, Santa At The Consulate. Our goals:

1. The names of the co-authors are listed under the title in the single post view.

2. The post is properly credited in both John Lacson’s and Albert Vargas’ post lists in their respective author pages.

Good ha! This is how you can do the same for your other co-author posts:

1. Go through the regular process of setting up and publishing your posts which includes adding the front page image. (see previous Wordpress Tutorial).

2. If both or all co-authors have internet access and can open the post to edit information at different points, all are automatically added as co-author/s of the post, proceed to step #5. You’re done.

However, if for some reason, one or two co-authors are not able to enter the site to edit the post, the one who posted most or all of the information should add the co-author/s manually, as in steps #3 and #4 below.

3. Go to the Custom Fields section which, if you have already uploaded your front page image as in step #1 above, will look like the image below:



4. Select other_author under the KEY column and type in the user IDs I will give you for your co-author. Click on the “Add Custom Field” button to implement the feature. To add another co-author, go through another round of this process.



5. Click on the “Publish” button to post your blog online.
