Although my citizenship is American, I am still a Filipino at the core.
There is no need for me to ask for more.
Two great cultures rolled into one.
Makes life a heck lot more fun.
I speak Tagalog and English.
And occasionally, a sputtering of Spanish.
My American friends are duly impressed.
With my talent as a linguist.
I cook killer adobo and spankin’ fried rice.
Just put in a lotta garlic and add a little spice.
Not worried about blood pressure and cholesterol.
And let’s not forget that fried pork egg roll.
Once in a while I suck on a balut.
A while back, my son thought that was cute.
But when TV showed it on Bizarre Foods and Fear Factor.
Having duck eggs on the menu went out the back door.
My non-Filipino co-workers jokingly refer to me as “Flip”.
It’s okay cause I know they’re just sending me on a trip.
I smile realizing it is but a gesture of affection.
They’re at ease with me, giving me this type of attention.
Being born and growing up in the Philippines is cool.
A treasure trove we have in our memory pool
There are stories to tell and adventures to remember.
Of those wonder years that will stay with us forever.
There were good times and bad times back then.
The weather, the politics, and the poor economy.
Not knowing when the storm was going to end.
Thank God, life turned up to be bright and sunny.

It’s a blessing to be Filipino-American.
Lets give it a hundred percent for as long as we can. Â
Living in the United States is an economic upgrade.
Just stay on course and we got it made.
Where does our Filipino heritage come into play?
This identity is part of us night and day.
No reason to be ashamed of our ancestry.
Be proud, since it is a God-given opportunity.
Filipinos are intelligent and well educated.
We work hard and know how to work smart.
As employees we are very well rated.
Our entrepreneurs are successful in playing the part.
Our culture has taught us to be warm and hospitable.
With strong family values that make us stable.
We are well grounded with priorities in place.
Making ours a secure and developed Race.
In conclusion, all we need to know.
With this environment it is easy to grow.
And this is our opportunity to show.
How internationally Filipinos are on the go!
